Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 (February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. The West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive part that stretches from Lachine up to the west. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but due to a rapid development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing colleagues. In an article from The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I outgrew my male companions, I stopped. In Brugel's case, it was the guidance of an instructor in drama from her high school, which prompted her to pursue acting. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out as Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she play a character in the school's annual play. The show was a recipient of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a degree in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years since then, Brugel was offered roles in over 60 shows on the big and small screens drawing the most attention when she was offered the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in Season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
